Description
Large, upright, broad, fast growing deciduous tree (H 15-25 m, W 10-15 m). Crown broadly dome-shaped, picturesque. Bark on young shoots yellow-brown, later grey, roughly fissured. Leaves lanceolate (6-10 cm), glossy, zgoraj grey to dark grey-green, underneath light blue-green. Flowers in clusters, catkins (4-6 cm), grey to yellow; dioecious plant, male and female flowers on separate plants. Flowering period: April. Seeds numerous, very tiny, with grey-white hairs. Ripening time: May. Very healthy, adaptable species, normally withstands urban conditions, wind, cold and heat and long-lasting flooding. The largest and the most long-lived willow in our country.
