Description
Small, upright deciduous tree (H 6-8 m, W 5-6 m). Leaves 3-lobed, individual leaflets (up to 6 cm) broad-oval, dark green to slightly coppery red. Flowers numerous, in large, drooping racemes (15-30 cm), pea-like (1,5 cm), unusually multi-coloured. In some of the inflorescence, the flowers are bright gold-yellow, in others light pink to red-pink, still other flowers are orange yellow to light coppery-red or yellow with a pink to orange hue. The variety is a graft-hymera of purple broom and common laburnum, hence the flower-colour is effected by both parental plants, resulting in three colour-types (yellow, pink and bicolored). Flowering period: June-July. The variety is a result of grafting Chamaecytisus purpureus and Laburnum anagyroides together.
