Description
Large, bushy, broad, moderately growing deciduous tree (H 20-30 m, W 10-15 m). Crown broadly conical, at maturity dome-shaped to rounded, regular, dense. Bark on young shoots red-brown to green-brown, later dark grey-brown, fissured. Branches widely spreading, later hanging. Leaves round to heart-shaped (3-10 cm), dark green; underneath light bluish green, with red-brown hairs in vein axils; autumn colour yellow. Flowers in light, hanging inflorescence (3-11 flowers), simple, pale yellow, with numerous anthers, scented. Flowering period: June-July. Fruits dry, ovate to round (0,5-0,8 cm), slightly felty to glabrous, grey-brown. Ripening time: September-October. A tough, adaptable to different soil conditions, normally withstands drought, wind and urban conditoins.
