Description
Large, bushy, broad, fast growing deciduous tree (H 30-35 m, W 15-20 m). Crown broadly oval, at maturity dome-shaped. Branches upright to open, lower branches hanging. Young shoots red to brown-red, attractive in winter. Leaves broadly heart-shaped (8-15 cm), with a finely, but sharply serrate margin, bright green, underneath dense white-hairy; autumn colour yellow. Flowers in light, hanging inflorescence (of 3-5 flowers) simple, pale yellow, with numerous anthers, scented. Flowering period: June. Fruits dry, egg-shaped (0,8-1,2 cm), slightly felty, grey-brown. Ripening time: September-October. It grows well in deep, moderately moist soils in moderately sunny, cooler sites.
