Description
Small, upright, compact, slow growing evergreen tree, conifer (H 1,5-2,5 m, W 1-1,5 m). Bark dark violet-brown to grey-brown, flaky. Crown broadly ovoid, often irregular, picturesque. Branches open to horizontal. Needles (4-6 cm) spiraly twisted, pointed, in fives, outer side green to blue-green, inner side light grey-blue to grey; in winter yellow-zelne to yellow, young needles partly yellow in spring. Flowers separately arranged in male and female inflorescence on the same plant. Flowering period: April. Fruits cones (4-7 cm), egg-shaped, dark grey to red-brown, scales wide. Requires sufficiently drained, but always moist soils.
