Small, upright, broad, vigorously growing, often multi-stemmed deciduous tree (H 7-9 m, W 4-6 m). Crown broadly fen-shaped to broadly oval, at maturity eventually dome-shaped. Leaves broad-palmate (6-12 cm), 7-11-lobed, with finely serrate margin, at first light yellow-green with orange-brown margin, later mid to dark green; autumn colour very intense, bright orange-red to red; leaflets remarkable, wider, with a shorter, narrowly pointed tip. Flowers violet-red. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits winged, in pairs (very obtuse, almost straight angle), dark red, ornamental. Ripening time: September-October. Undemanding tree, suitable for urban conditoins, normally grows in different types of soil, except the very heavy and permanently moist soils.
