Description

Small, upright, fast-growing, broad, often multi-stemmed deciduous tree (H 4-5 m, W 3-5 m). Crown fen-shaped, at maturity eventually dome-shaped. Leaves broad-palmate (6-11 cm), 5-7-lobed, with evenly serrate margin, at first bright orange-red to violet-red, later dark red with green hue; autumn colour bright yellow to orange-red; leaflets remarkable, with a long, narrowly pointed tip. Flowers violet-red. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits winged, in pairs (very obtuse, almost straight angle), dark red. Ripening time: September-October. Undemanding tree, suitable for urban conditoins, normally grows in different types of soil, except the very heavy and permanently moist soils.
