Description
Large, upright, narrow, deciduous ornamental tree (H 15-20 m, W 5-7 m). Bark dark grey-brown to black-brown, deeply fissured. Crown columnar to ovate. Leaves ovate (10-15 cm), with short petioles, with a serrate margin, smooth, dark green, lighter beneath; autumn colour bright yellow to brown-yellow. Leaves eventually persist on brunches untill early spring. Flowers separately arranged in hanging, male and female inflorescence, green-yellow. Flowering period: May. Fruits elongate (2-3 cm), hard, brown. Requires deep, moderately moist soils. Easily withstands occasional drought, cold and heat, occasional flooding and urban conditoins.
