Description
Large, bushy, broad, fast growing deciduous tree (H 20-25 m, W 10-15 m). Crown narrowly ovoid, at maturity more broad. Bark on young shoots green, densely hairy, later olive-green and glabrous; bark on older branches dark grey. Branches upright to slightly open, later arching. Leaves broadly heart-shaped (11-16 cm), with a slightly serrate margin, at first zgoraj slightly hairy, later glabrous, dark green; underneath dense white hairy; autumn colour bright yellow. Flowers in light, hanging inflorescence (of 5-10 flowers), simple, pale yellow, with numerous anthers, scented. Flowering period: July-August. Fruits dry, elongate, slightly conical (0,7-1 cm), felty, grey-brown. Ripening time: September-October. Undemanding about soil conditions. Easily withstands heat, drought, wind and urban conditoins.
