Description
Small, compact, slow growing evergreen shrub (H 0,6-0,8 m, W 1-1,2 m). Crown broadly spherical, dense, regular. Leaves broadly egg-shaped to ovate (5-9 cm), leathery, at first silver-grey, later grey-green to dark green, underneath red-brown to grey-brown felty. Flowers numerous, in dense terminal inflorescence, bell-shaped (3,5-5 cm), in buds pink, open light pink to snow white. Flowering period: May. Requires deep, fertile, humus-rich, sufficiently drained, but always moist soils. Easily withstands moderatly sunny sites, grows well also in slightly acidic and neutral soils. Easily withstands winter cold. A very good, world-wide accepted variety iz skupine yakushimanum.
