Description
Small, upright evergreen tree, conifer (H 7-10 m, W 3-5 m). Bark light grey to dark grey-brown, slightly flaky. Crown conical to egg-shaped, dense. Branches upright to widely spreading, short, dense, densely branched. Young shoots light red-brown, softly hairy. Buds egg-shaped, red-brown, slightly resinous. Needles (3-7 cm) pointed, in fives, distinctively spiraly twisted, thin, light green-blue to grey-blue, inside with remarkable white margin. Flowers separately arranged in male and female inflorescence on the same plant. Flowering period: April. Fruits cones (7-15 cm), elongate egg-shaped, light red to yellow-brown. Requires dry, sufficiently drained soils.
