Description
Small, upright, slow growing evergreen tree, conifer (H 5-8 m, W 3-5 m). Bark light grey to dark grey-brown, slightly flaky. Crown conical to egg-shaped, dense. Branches open to horizontal, short, densely branched. Young shoots light red-brown, softly hairy. Buds egg-shaped, red-brown, slightly resinous. Needles (3-7 cm) pointed, in fives, somehow bent inside, thin, light blue-green, inside with remarkable white margin. Flowers separately arranged in male and female inflorescence on the same plant. Flowering period: April. Fruits cones (7-15 cm), elongate egg-shaped, light red to yellow-brown. Requires dry, sufficiently drained soils.
