Description
Small, partly weeping, very narrow, slow growing evergreen tree, conifer (H 5-6 m, W 0,5-0,7 m). Crown narrowly columnar, irregular, branches short, hanging. Needles scalelike (0,2-0,4 cm), smooth, glossy, variegated, young needles light yellow to green-yellow, later green. Male and female flowers separate, on the same plant, monoecious plant; male inflorescence (2-3 mm) pink-red, female cone-shaped inflorescence blue-green. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits woody cones (0,8 cm), round, dark brown. Requires deep, moderately moist, nutrient-rich soils, and sunny to half-shady sites. Easily withstands occasional drought, cold, heat, wind and urban conditoins.
