Small, upright, broadly growing, often multi-stemmed deciduous tree (H 3-4 m, W 3-4 m). Crown broadly fen-shaped to broadly oval, at maturity eventually dome-shaped. Leaves broad-palmate (5-10 cm), 7-11-lobed, with finely, deeply serrate margin, at first orange-red to orange, later green with a strong orange hue; autumn colour bright orange-red; leaflets remarkable, with a long, narrowly pointed tip. Flowers violet-red. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits winged, in pairs (very obtuse, almost straight angle), dark red. Ripening time: September-October. Undemanding tree, suitable for urban conditoins, normally grows in different types of soil, except the very heavy and permanently moist soils.
