Description
Small compact, upright, fast growing deciduous shrub (H 0,8-1,2 m, W up to 1 m). Branches upright to open, partly hanging in a distinctive, arching way. Bark light red-brown, it peels off decoratively in strips. Leaves broadly egg-shaped (3-8 cm), shallow palmately dissected, with a serrate margin, at first orange red, later dark violet-red to wine red, autumn colour orange red to violet-red. Flowers numerous, in umbels (4-7 cm), simple (0,5 cm), intensely scented, white, with a pink hue. Flowering period: June-July. Fruits dry follicles (up to 0,5 cm), in umbells, red-brown, ornamental. Ripening time: August-October. Attracts butterflies and bees. Undemanding, adaptable shrub, withstands urban conditions, wind and cold.
