Description
Medium-sized, upright evergreen tree, conifer (H 10-14 m, W 3-4 m). Bark orange-brown, on trunk the grey-brown, flaky, roughly fissured. Crown at first conical, open, later ovoid to dome-shaped, eventually irregular, one-sided, picturesque. Branches wide open to horizontal. Young shoots grey-brown. Buds elongate egg-shaped, brown, mostly not resinous. Needles (4-7 cm), in pairs, spiraly twisted, grey-green, in winter yellow to yellow-green. Flowers separately arranged in male and female inflorescence on the same plant. Flowering period: May. Fruits cones (3-7 cm), elongate egg-shaped, grey-brown. Easily withstands wind, cold and urban conditions, adaptable to different soils.
