Description
Small, upright, narrow growing deciduous ornamental fruit-tree (H 2-3 m, W 1-1,5 m). Crown columnar to narrowly ovate, dense. Branches mostly upright. Leaves broadly ovate (3-5 cm), smooth, bluish green to grey-green, autumn colour orange to red. Flowers numerous, in loose clusters, star-shaped (2 cm), simple, white. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits elongate globose (1 cm), fleshy, juicy, violet-blue to blue, with a bloom. Edible raw. Ripening time: June-July. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. A tough, undemanding plant, grows well also in poor soils; normally withstands wind, cold, heat, drought and urban conditoins.
