Description
Medium-sized, compact, slow growing evergreen shrub, conifer (H 1,5-2 m, W 1,3-1,8 m). Crown broadly ovoid, regular. Needles scalelike (0,2-0,4 cm), smooth, glossy, variegated, young needles bright yellow to green-yellow, in summer yellow-green, in winter yellow, later needles mid blue-green. Male and female flowers separate, on the same plant, monoecious plant; male inflorescence (2-3 mm) pink-red, female cone-shaped inflorescence blue-green. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits woody cones (0,8 cm), round, dark brown. Requires deep, moderately moist, nutrient-rich soils, and sunny to half-shady sites. Easily withstands occasional drought, cold, heat, wind and urban conditoins.
