Description
Small, compact, slow growing evergreen shrub, conifer (H 1,2-1,5 m, W 0,7-1 m). Crown ovate to egg-shaped, dense. Stems thin, short, somehow spiraly twisted. Needles densely arranged, tightly pressed against the twig, scalelike (0,2-0,3 cm), smooth, glossy, light blue-green. Male and female flowers separate, on the same plant, monoecious plant; male inflorescence (2-3 mm) pink-red, female cone-shaped inflorescence blue-green. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits woody cones (0,8 cm), round, dark brown. Requires deep, moderately moist, nutrient-rich soils, and sunny to half-shady sites. Easily withstands occasional drought, cold, heat, wind and urban conditoins.
