Description
Medium-sized, compact, slow growing evergreen shrub (H 1,7-2 m, W 1,7-2 m). Crown broadly ovate to rounded, dense. Leaves with red petioles, ovate (4-9 cm), leathery, slightly glossy, at first reddish, later dark green. Flowers in dense, half-round inflorescence, simple (1 cm), in buds light pink, open white. Flowering period: March-April, very freely flowering, eventually from November untill spring. Fruits ovate (0,6 cm), glossy, black-blue. Attracts butterflies and bees. Needs a warm, sheltered position and light, deep, humus-rich, well-drained soils. Not hardy in central-european continental climate, eventually ga best grown as a container-plant. Easily withstands summer drought and heat.
