Description
Small, upright, compact, slow growing evergreen shrub, conifer (H 1-1,5 m, W up to 1 m). Bark dark violet-brown to grey-brown, flaky. Crown rounded to egg-shaped, dense. Branches open to horizontal. Buds delicate pink when opening. Needles (4-6 cm) spiraly twisted, pointed, in fives, outer side blue-green, inner side light grey-blue to grey; young needles white, later turning green. Flowers separately arranged in male and female inflorescence on the same plant. Flowering period: April. Fruits cones (4-7 cm), egg-shaped, dark grey to red-brown, scales wide. Requires sufficiently drained, but always moist soils.
