Description
Medium-sized, weeping, widely spreading evergreen tree, conifer (H 7-12 m, W 4-5 m). Crown broadly conical, irregular, picturesque. Stranske branches arching and distinctly hanging, widely spreading. Shoot tips distinctly drooping. Bark grey-brown, flaky. Needles scalelike (0,2-0,4 cm), smooth, dark green. Male and female flowers separate, on the same plant, monoecious plant, male inflorescence (2-3 mm) brown-green, female cone-shaped inflorescence blue-green. Flowering period: April-May. Fruits woody cones (1 cm), round, dark brown, numerous, ornamental. Requires deep, moderately moist, nutrient-rich soils, and sunny to half-shady sites. Easily withstands occasional drought, cold, heat, wind and urban conditoins.
