Description
Small, moderately growing deciduous tree (H 6-8 m, W 3-4 m). Crown columnar to narrowly-ovate, open. Branches upright to spreading, eventually slightly hanging. Bark on young shoots red-brown, later grey-brown, smooth. Leaves broadly ovate (20-30 cm), pinnate, with 15-17 leaflets, with finely serrated edge, tooth narrow, pointed, heading forward; young leaves green, with a strong red-brown hue; leaves in summer mid- to dark green, glabrous, slightly shiny, underneath lighter green; autumn colour intense, orange-red to vivid red. Flowers in clusters (up to 15 cm), simple, cup-shaped (1 cm), cream white. Flowering period: May-June. Fruits in rich bunches, round (0,8 cm), fleshy, bright red. Suitable for processing and canning. Ripening time: September-October, high yield. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds.
